All the media, fan, player and coach reaction from the Warriors’ 27-18 loss to the Broncos on Saturday night.
What the Warriors said
Stephen Kearney lamented his side overwhelming losing the physical battle against the Broncos.
“I have to give credit to Brisbane, they came here with a real commitment and intent about them right from the outset and we didn’t match that,” Kearney said at the press conference.
“From that point of view, there’s a bit of disappointment there.
“One thing about this game is that if you’re not there physically – both when you haven’t got the ball in defence and when you have got the ball – it makes for a tough day at the office.”
The players back up Kearney’s summary, but remain confident of bouncing back against St George Illawarra in Round 7.

To his credit, Anthony Gelling was well aware of his magnitude of his forgettable late cameo.

What the fans said
Few Warriors fans were hitting the panic button after the team’s first loss of the season, remaining optimistic of a bounce-back performance this Friday against the Dragons.
Congrats Broncos. Bad luck Warriors. Long season ahead. Train hard and bring back the fire for next week #NRLWarriorsBroncos

You either win or you learn we'll be back warriors. Was great to get out tonight with the old girl and support the boys in our home game. The atmosphere was unreal. We still at the top. Up the warriors!#NRLWarriorsBroncos #warriors4life #warriors #letsgone

Good win Broncos. Warriors
look flat from the get go. Luckily for the @NZWarriors team they get another week to redeem themselves. #betterteamwon #learnandmoveforward #ontothenextone#WarriorNation #NRLWarriorsBroncos— Junior Lemalu (@junzlemalu) April 14, 2018
@NZWarriors I thought it was meant to be “old boys” day not “old ways” day. #NRLWarriorsBroncos

There wasn’t the same level of understanding for Anthony Gelling’s shocker, however.
It’s probably fair to say the Warriors didn’t get the rub of the green penalty-wise, which had some shouting ‘conspiracy!’
A coincidence the same weekend the Storm are back getting away with murder, the Warriors are back getting the opposite treatment? NRL referees had a little reminder this week about the NRL equilibrium #nrl #NRLStormKnights #NRLWarriorsBroncos

And the Broncos’ NZ-based fans were understandably pumped up.

What the NZ media said
NZ Herald’s Michael Burgess foresaw a potential Warriors slip-up against the backs-to-the-wall Broncos. We probably should have sought his advice before tipping the Warriors to win by 24 points…
I've got a feeling tonight will be harder – maybe a lot harder – for the @NZWarriors against the @brisbanebroncos than a lot of fans and pundits expect. Still a v good Broncos lineup. @nzheraldsport @NRL
— Michael Burgess (@mikeburgess99) April 14, 2018
Post-match, he expressed concern at the Warriors getting outenthused and underlined the important of responding positively in Friday’s blockbuster against the Saints.
Unfortunately, @NZWarriors were second best all night against ultra-committed @brisbanebroncos team. Their pack was exceptional, while Warriors a bit flat. If there was any complacency, it will be gone now. @nzheraldsport @NRL
— Michael Burgess (@mikeburgess99) April 14, 2018
Stuff’s David Long hinted that the flat performance was an extension of the Warriors’ try-less second half of the win over the Cowboys.

What the Aussie media said
Understandably, the focus was on the undermanned Broncos’ courage-filled win at what has been a bogey venue for the club.
